Kevin D. Johnson was charged with knowingly and intentionally possessing with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of cocaine in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1) (1981), and using and carrying a firearm in relation to drug trafficking in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 924(C) (1984). The jury found Johnson guilty of the drug charge, but not guilty of the firearm charge. At sentencing, the district court assigned Johnson a base offense...
