This is a wrongful death products liability action arising from an accident in which plaintiff's decedent, Louis Joseph Ben, sustained fatal injuries when wet heavy scrap aluminum caused a steam explosion. Defendant United Metal Recyclers ("United Metal") produced and sold the heavy scrap aluminum, and defendant Norfolk and Western Railway Company ("N & W") transported it.
