Appellants, William T. Edwards and Ruby Jeanette Edwards (collectively "Edwards"), are the grandparents and legal custodians of Alexander Lashley, a medical malpractice victim. In an earlier proceeding, the child's natural mother, Beverly Edwards, sued St. Francis Medical Center, the attending nurses, her obstetrician and their insurers.
