Defendant, Ronnie Tucker, was charged with first-degree murder (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 9-1(a)(1)) in the shooting death of Stanley Barber. Following a jury trial in which defendant was found guilty of the offense charged, defendant was sentenced to 45 years in the Department of Corrections.
