STATE v. HASTE

Nos. 91-2036-CR, 91-2851-CR.

175 Wis.2d 1 (1993)

500 N.W.2d 678

STATE of Wisconsin, Plaintiff-Respondent, v. Vernon June HASTE, Defendant-Appellant.

Court of Appeals of Wisconsin.

Decided March 2, 1993.

Attorney(s) appearing for the Case

For the defendant-appellant the cause was submitted on the briefs of Lew A. Wasserman, of Law Offices of Lew A. Wasserman, of Milwaukee.

For the plaintiff-respondent the cause was submitted on the briefs of James E. Doyle, attorney general, with Daniel J. O'Brien, assistant attorney general.

Before Wedemeyer, P.J., Fine and Schudson, JJ.

SCHUDSON, J.

Vernon Haste appeals his convictions for battery to a peace officer and resisting an officer. Haste argues that he was denied his Sixth Amendment right to effective assistance of counsel at the trial and his Sixth Amendment right to counsel at the sentencing. Because we conclude that Haste did not waive counsel, but was denied counsel throughout his trial and sentencing, we conclude that Haste was denied his due process right of representation.
