Shortly after midnight, on September 23, 1989, Steven Eads and his wife, Angela, were traveling west on Highway 100 in Franklin County, returning home from a baseball game in St. Louis. Their Mazda pickup truck was struck head-on by a Ford Ranger pickup truck operated by defendant Robert M. Meanor, who was attempting to pass a third vehicle.
