This is an interlocutory appeal from the denial of a motion for summary judgment that asserted the defense of official immunity. Tex.R.App.P. 42(a); Tex.Civ.Prac. & Rem. Code Ann. § 51.014(5) (Vernon Supp.1993). When successfully invoked, an officer is immune from suit, not just from liability. Mitchell v.
