Justice MURRAY delivered the opinion of the court:

After a jury trial, defendant Terrance Johnson (Johnson) was found guilty of murder and armed robbery in connection with the March 22, 1989, shooting death of Cleotha Adams. Defendant was sentenced to 60 years' imprisonment on the murder conviction and 20 years' imprisonment on the armed robbery conviction, sentences to run consecutively.
