The defendant, Terry Wayne Mays, was convicted of second degree murder, in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1, and sentenced to life imprisonment at hard labor, without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence. Under the same indictment, he was also convicted of armed robbery, in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:64, for which he was sentenced to 50 years at hard labor, also without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.
