In March 1991, a jury found defendant, Ronnie Todd, guilty of three counts of criminal sexual assault in violation of section 12-13(a)(3) of the Criminal Code of 1961 (Criminal Code) (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 12-13(a)(3)).
