The defendant, Jeffrey Pearson, was indicted on two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault (Ill.Rev.Stat.1991, ch. 38, par. 12-14(a)(1) (now 720 ILCS 5/12-14(a)(1) (West 1992))) and one count of aggravated unlawful restraint (Ill.Rev.Stat.1991, ch. 38, par. 10-3.1 (now 720 ILCS 5/10-3.1 (West 1992))).
