This appeal was granted in response to an application for post conviction relief. The defendant, Leonard E. Montegut, was indicted for possession of heroin with intent to distribute. A jury found him guilty as charged. The defendant was subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
