In January 1992, the defendant, Barbara Mindham, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) (Ill.Rev.Stat.1991, ch. 95½, pars. 11-501(a)(1), (a)(2) (now 625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(1), (a)(2) (West 1992))), and disobeying a traffic control device (Ill.Rev.Stat. 1991, ch. 95½, par. 11-305(a) (now 625 ILCS 5/11-305(a) (West 1992))).
