Following a jury trial, defendant Darryl Allen was convicted of armed robbery (Ill. Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 18-2) and sentenced to 48 years in prison. On appeal, defendant contends that the trial court erred in refusing to instruct the jury on the lesser included offense of robbery.
