Following a jury trial in the circuit court of Cook County, defendant, Robert Cloutier, was found guilty of the aggravated criminal sexual assault (720 ILCS 5/12-14(a)(4) (West 1992)) and murder (720 ILCS 5/9-1(a) (West 1992)) of Alice Cogler.
