A jury convicted defendant, Theodore Knox, of two counts of first-degree murder (Ill.Rev.Stat.1987, ch. 38, par. 9-1) and two counts of armed violence (Ill.Rev.Stat. 1987, ch. 38, par. 33A-2). The armed violence counts were vacated, and defendant was sentenced to natural-life imprisonment without parole for the first-degree murder convictions.
