At the time of trial in this worker's compensation case, the plaintiff, John Canady, was disabled from a progressive heart disease known as idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy. Canady first experienced the symptoms of the disease on the mornings of December 16 and 17, 1986, when he was overcome by pain while operating a ten pound "grinder" in the course and scope of his employment as an auto body repairman...
