A jury convicted defendant of first degree murder, § 565.020.1 RSMo 1986, first degree assault, § 565.050 RSMo 1986, and two counts of armed criminal action, § 571.015 RSMo 1986. The trial court sentenced him to life without probation or parole on the murder count, plus consecutive sentences of 30 years on the assault count and 10 years on each armed criminal action count.
