OPINION

SHEA, Justice.

This case came before the court on appeal of the defendant from judgments of conviction for first-degree and second-degree sexual assault following a jury trial in the Superior Court. We affirm.

The defendant, Pasquale P. Squillante, Jr., was indicted on one count each of first-degree and second-degree sexual assault arising out of an incident on April 21, 1990. At trial the victim, whom we shall call Tracy,
