This criminal appeal presents us with two issues concerning Iowa's theft by check statute. See Iowa Code §§ 714.1(6), 714.2(2) (1991). First, if a payee agrees to accept a postdated check, is the payee deceived because the payee was unaware the account was closed at the time the check was written?
