Following a jury trial, defendant, Marcos Alcantar, was convicted of delivery of a controlled substance in excess of 900 grams (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 56½, par. 1401(a)(2)(D)), and sentenced to 49 years imprisonment and fined $800,000. On appeal, defendant contends that: (1) he was not proved guilty beyond a reasonable doubt; and (2) his sentence of 49 years imprisonment is excessive. For the following reasons...
