Plaintiff Bruce L. Johnson owns a resort in Ontario, Canada, known as Duck Bay Lodge. Defendants Edward and Beatrice Mitchell own a nearby resort in Ontario known as Sabaskong Bay Lodge. Johnson is a resident of Iowa. The Mitchells are residents of Minnesota. Johnson operated Duck Bay Lodge from 1970 until 1983, but because of other activities did not open the lodge in 1984 or 1985.
