Following a bench trial in the circuit court of Cook County, defendant, Terry Griggs, was found guilty of murder (Ill. Rev. Stat.1985, ch. 38, par. 9-1(a)(2)). Defendant was sentenced to serve 20 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Defendant's conviction was affirmed in the appellate court.
