This appeal is from the denial of appellant's motion for new trial after he was convicted of one count of simple battery, OCGA § 16-5-23 (a) (2), and one count of battery, OCGA § 16-5-23.1 (a), based on an incident which took place while he was on duty as a uniformed city police officer.
