On May 6, 1988, Nancy Flaherty returned home from work in the early morning hours to find her garage door open, the door from the garage into the house open, and her husband's tool box lying in the middle of the garage floor. She went to a neighbor's house to get someone to accompany her as she entered the house. When she and the neighbor went inside the residence, they found some household items in disarray...
