Defendant, Placido Laboy (Laboy), was charged by indictment with the offenses of armed robbery (Ill.Rev.Stat.1987, ch. 38, par 18-2(a)) and attempted aggravated criminal sexual assault. (Ill.Rev.Stat.1987, ch. 38, pars. 8-4, 12-14(a)(1).) After a jury trial Laboy was found guilty of both offenses.
