Plaintiff's decedent, Kenneth Winklepleck, was a resident at the Michigan Veterans' Facility in Grand Rapids. He suffered from multiple sclerosis. In May 1987, as a nurse was lifting Winklepleck from his bed with a hydraulic device, he was dropped and injured his head. He died in June 1987. Plaintiff sued the veterans' facility and the State of Michigan. Defendants moved for summary disposition under MCR 2.116(C)(7) and (10) on the ground that defendant...
