The defendant, Sankom Phanhsouvanh, appeals from judgment and sentence imposed following conviction by a jury of the offense of sexual abuse in the second degree. See Iowa Code §§ 709.1, 709.3(1) (1989). The defendant contends that the jury returned a general verdict that was inconsistent with the answer to a special interrogatory.
