The defendant, Wilbert Smith, was charged by bill of information with the aggravated burglary of Gladys Evans's house in Shreveport and the attempted second degree murder of Willie Smith Sr. The defendant proceeded to a jury trial, after which the jury convicted him of the lesser included offense of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, La.R.S. 14:62.3, and acquitted him on the attempted murder charge.
