On August 18, 1987, Julio Aguirre was murdered on North Central Park Avenue in Chicago by members of a street gang who believed him to be a member of a rival gang. Based on a photo identification by an eyewitness, police sought out defendant on September 29, 1987, at his parents' restaurant.
