LANDAU, J.

The defendant, Manuel Estrada, appeals from his conviction of burglary in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-101 (a) (1), assault in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-59 (a) (1), and four counts of unlawful restraint in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-95 (a). He received a total effective sentence of twenty years incarceration. On appeal, the defendant raises five claims....
