Amos Lee Cherry entered a conditional guilty plea to possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute. The trial court convicted him of that crime and sentenced him to ten years in the penitentiary and fined him $10,000. Cherry reserved the right to appeal the trial court's denial of his motion to suppress an inculpatory statement in which he admitted that he owned a jacket in which the cocaine was discovered.
