Following a jury trial in the circuit court of Whiteside County, defendant Leonard Harris was convicted of aggravated battery (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 12-4). On appeal, defendant contends that the trial court erred in allowing the prosecution to introduce evidence of defendant's prior misdemeanor convictions for battery and unlawful use of weapons.
