I. INTRODUCTION

This rape case arose on appeal from the September 29, 1988 judgment of the Tippah County Circuit Court, which found Ross guilty and sentenced him to life in prison. The appellant timely filed a notice of appeal on October 25, 1988, alleging constitutional and statutory speedy trial violations.
