Our initial question in this complex products liability action is whether one of the defendants is entitled to protections provided by section 613.18 of the Iowa Code (1987). As to the plaintiff's strict liability claim, the trial court held the defendant was not entitled to the benefits of the statute because the case was filed before the effective date of the statute.
