Robert Odem was convicted of the December 1980 shooting deaths of William and Kimberly Smith. These convictions rested largely on circumstantial evidence: Odem had possession of the murder weapon at the time of the killings, and he wore clothes which matched the clothing worn by the killer as described by the children of one of the victims who saw the gunman.
