Frederick H. Larson ("Larson") and Cliffs Synfuel Corporation ("Synfuel") (collectively referred to as "plaintiffs") are applicants for patents to a number of unpatented oil shale placer mining claims. Larson owns one hundred fifty-six (156) claims covering approximately 24,960 acres located in Uintah County, Utah. Synfuel owns four (4) claims covering approximately 520 acres also...
