Elius Reed alleges that AMAX Coal Company (AMAX) violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and § 1981 of the Civil Rights Act of 1866 when it terminated his employment. See 42 U.S.C. § 2000e et seq.; 42 U.S.C. § 1981. After considering Reed's claims, the district court granted summary judgment in favor of AMAX.
