In a forty-eight count indictment, twenty-six people were charged with mail fraud, racketeering, and conspiracy as a result of their association with a scheme involving staged automobile accidents, padded medical bills, and fraudulent insurance claims. After an eleven-week trial, the jury convicted the defendants in this consolidated appeal, Forest Bailey, Ben Israel, Steve Johnson, Margaret Neely, and Cornell Stokes, of substantially all the counts...
