In 1989 Dennis Potter confessed to the 1976 strangulation murder of his wife, Norma. In 1990 Potter was convicted of murder in the second degree. Prior to his 1989 confession, law enforcement authorities had attributed Norma's death to injuries sustained in a 1-car accident.
