Defendant, Scott Nilsson, was indicted on charges of robbery, home invasion, residential burglary, and first degree murder. The robbery and home invasion charges were nolle prossed by the State. Following a jury trial in the circuit court of Cook County, defendant was found guilty of residential burglary (Ill.Rev.Stat.1987, ch. 38, par. 19-3), and first degree murder (Ill.Rev. Stat.1987, ch. 38, par. 9-1)...
