PADGETT, Justice.

Appellant was convicted after a jury trial on two counts of sexual assault in the first degree (Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS) § 707-730), two counts of sexual assault in the third degree (HRS § 707-732), and one count of promoting a detrimental drug in the first degree (HRS § 712-1247).

The alleged minor victim was between seven and eight years old at the time of trial and between five and six and one-half years at the time...
