Defendant, Charles Harre, was convicted by a jury of armed violence in May of 1990 and was sentenced to 9½ years' imprisonment. Defendant was also ordered to pay a street value fine of $49,533.50 in connection with his earlier plea of guilty to unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 56½, par. 705(e)), the predicate offense for the armed violence conviction, as well...
