Following a jury trial in the circuit court of Kane county, defendant, Domingo Luna, was convicted of battery, a Class A misdemeanor (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 12-3(a)). The trial court sentenced defendant to 52 weeks' probation, 10 consecutive weekends at Kane County Correctional Center, and 50 hours' community service.
