In August 1984, a complaint for preliminary examination was filed alleging that defendant Michael Lynch had committed a murder in Cook County a few days earlier and a warrant was issued for his arrest. While the arrest warrant was outstanding, defendant's co-offender, Vincent Wade, was prosecuted and convicted for the murder.
