In September 1991, a jury convicted defendant, Patrisio Villanueva, of burglary (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 19-1(a)). At defendant's November 1991 sentencing hearing, the trial court found him to be a Class X offender under section 5-5-3(c)(8) of the Unified Code of Corrections (Unified Code) (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 1005-5-3(c)(8)) and sentenced him to 20 years in prison.
