On January 29, 1990, appellant, Shelton Paul Randle, Jr., over his strenuous objection, was put to trial in Jefferson County, Texas, while wearing jail attire. The jury convicted him of delivery of a controlled substance on January 30, 1990, and his prior conviction for robbery was used to enhance this offense to a first degree felony.
