On October 31, 1991, Francis Deville filed a petition seeking judicial commitment of his brother, Shelton J. Deville (hereinafter referred to as the patient), under La. R.S. 28:54. A hearing was held on November 15, 1991, and the trial court ordered the commitment of the patient to an appropriate treatment facility until such time as treatment is no longer necessary or beneficial.
