Following a bench trial, defendant was convicted of murder (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 9-1(a)(1)), home invasion (Ill.Rev. Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 12-11(a)(1)), armed robbery (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 18-2(a)), and attempt rape. (Ill.Rev.Stat.1983, ch. 38, par. 11-1(a).)
