Charles Joseph McArdell was convicted of the rape of one of his stepdaughters and sexual abuse in the first degree of another stepdaughter. He was sentenced to twenty years and six years, respectively, in the Arkansas Department of Correction, to be served consecutively. On appeal he argues that the trial court erred in (1) not granting his motion to sever the two charges; (2) not declaring a mistrial; (3) holding that the younger girl was competent...
